Rochester Christian University Nursing Students Excel at Sigma Poster Presentations at Sigma Research Day

Rochester Christian University’s undergraduate nursing students once again demonstrated excellence in academic research and professional collaboration by participating in the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society poster presentations, held in partnership with graduate students from Oakland University.

This annual event, hosted each April, provides an opportunity for nursing students at all academic levels to showcase evidence-based research, quality improvement projects, and innovative healthcare solutions. Rochester Christian has a proud tradition of participating alongside Oakland University’s graduate nursing students, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic rigor and professional engagement.

In April 2025, two Rochester Christian undergraduate students, Sarah Lyerla and Chloe Wolfe, tied for 2nd place in the poster competition close behind the first-place winner, a PhD student at Oakland U.  This is a testament to the high caliber of work produced by RCU’s nursing program. This level of excellence marks a continuation of the university’s success at the event—in 2021, a Rochester Christian undergraduate took 1st place, solidifying their reputation for excellence in scholarly presentation and clinical inquiry.

“Having our undergraduate students present alongside graduate-level peers highlights the strength of our program and the professionalism of our students,” said Dr. John Collins, Dean of Nursing and Health Studies at RCU. “We’re incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the continued recognition of our students’ hard work.”

Rochester Christian undergraduate nursing students have now been presenting at the Sigma Theta Tau event for several years, consistently earning respect for their thoughtful research and confident presentations. Their continued participation not only reflects the quality of their academic preparation but also their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the nursing profession.
