Rochester Christian University Celebrates Record-Breaking Night at 54th Annual Partnership Dinner

Rochester Christian University proudly hosted its 54th Annual Partnership Dinner at the Royal Park Hotel on April 12, bringing together more than 600 donors, alumni, friends, and partners to celebrate a shared commitment to Christian higher education. The evening raised over $160,000 for tuition assistance—supported by a record-breaking 58 sponsorships—marking one of the most impactful nights of giving in the university’s 65-year history.

The evening began with a special VIP reception where sponsors and members of the RCU community gathered for conversation, refreshments, and a chance to meet guest speaker Jake Bates. Photos from the VIP reception can be found here

The dinner program opened with a welcome from Que Morgan, President of the RCU Alumni Association, followed by an opening prayer from City of Rochester, Mayor, Nancy Salvia. The program showcased the heart of the RCU community through moments of worship, testimony, and recognition. Jalen Seawright, was named the 2025 Alumnus of the Year, led a time of worship alongside his gospel choir. Student speaker Caleb Carroll, who shared his personal story of opportunity at RCU and his journey to performing at national stages like the 2024 NFL Draft signing the national anthem.

Rochester Christian University’s 11th president was announced to the large community of supporters. Dr. Reggies Wenyika spoke of his calling to serve and his excitement to join a community grounded in faith and vision.

The night culminated in a keynote conversation between Detroit Lions NFL kicker Jake Bates and WXYZ-TV sports broadcaster Brad Galli. Bates shared his remarkable journey from college soccer and selling bricks to Houston Texans to signing with the Michigan Panthers and then successfully playing with Detroit Lions this past year, testifying to God’s timing and faithfulness through every obstacle.

Luke Fleer, VP of Development and Alumni Relations and Executive Director of the University Foundation shared, “This special evening was a powerful testament to faith, family, and higher education. Rochester Christian University’s 54th Partnership Dinner brought together local community leaders, donors and alumni from across the country together to invest in the mission of RCU—engaging faithful hearts and supporting students through tuition assistance.”
