Personal

Melissa loves being in the classroom and her pedagogy reflects social theory open inquiry style. She believes that education happens when experience and expertise come together. Her research interests are in creating positive change through writing and generational rhetoric. She is interested in commonality between language and experience among gender lines.

She is a creative nonfiction writer with national and international publications.

Melissa is a Sigma Tau Delta sponsor and enjoys working with student writers and the Rochester Christian University literary journal: Blackberry Winter.

When she isn’t teaching or writing, Melissa is spending time with her family, telling a good “dad joke”, and living in flip flops.
