Jake Bates is a professional football kicker for the Detroit Lions. He began his collegiate career as a soccer player at the University of Central Arkansas before transitioning to football at Texas State University, where he excelled as a kickoff specialist.
In 2022, he transferred to the University of Arkansas, earning First-team All-SEC honors. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bates briefly signed with the Houston Texans before joining the Michigan Panthers in the UFL, where he made history with a 64-yard field goal.
In 2024, he signed with the Detroit Lions and quickly became a key player, setting franchise records and delivering clutch performances. On and off the field, Bates is a Christ follower who uses his platform to share his faith and inspire others.

ABOUT PARTNERSHIP DINNER
Since 1972, Partnership Dinner has raised funds for student scholarships. What was once held on campus and at Cobo Hall (now Huntington Place) in Detroit, Partnership Dinner has grown into a tradition now hosted at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI.
Previous speakers include former First Lady Barbara Bush, former United States Secretary of State, Colin Powell, Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton, and most recently, New York Times best seller, Bob Goff.
