Ace Lab: Center for Excellence

Location

The ACE is located in the Utley Center, downstairs from the Auditorium and right next to the cafeteria. Connected to the ACE is the Community Hub for Integrated Living and Learning (CHILL). Inside, you will find comfortable couches, table spaces for group study and independent work, charging ports, and three large screen TVs that are available for recreational use after 5pm.

Services

The ACE offers both walk-in tutoring and appointments for foundational RCU courses during open hours. The ACE also offers additional resources such as support in time management and study strategies, academic coaching, computer stations, independent study spaces, and other academic resources.

Programs

Throughout the academic year, the ACE hosts small educational and social programs. Announcements about upcoming programs can be found on ACE social media sites. Information regarding the Athletic Study Hours Program and required study hours is communicated directly to student-athletes.

Accommodations

Rochester Christian University is committed to providing appropriate services and accommodations that allow identified students with disabilities access to academic programs, housing, or institutional offerings. To achieve this goal, the Rochester Christian University Accommodations Officer engages in an individualized and interactive process with each student to determine reasonable accommodations and appropriate support services.

Students with a disability must self-identify, request accommodations, and provide documentation to support the request. An individual with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. Advance notice of an accommodation request can help to ensure that there is adequate time to review the request, access the need, and develop an individualized plan that outlines the student’s reasonable accommodations.

College accommodations differ from K-12 accommodations. Federal laws request colleges and universities to provide reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities to provide equal educational access and an inclusive environment for all students. In developing accommodation plans the University is not required to eliminate or lower essential requirements, make modifications that would result in a fundamental alteration of programs or activities, or impose an undue burden on the institution.
