The Pontiac Promise Zone, a nonprofit organization working to make college education accessible to those in the Pontiac School District, honored Charity Davidson, vice president of human resources and chief people officer at Rochester Christian University, with its Community Champion Award in November 2023. 

Raymond E. Wiggins Jr., program coordinator for Pontiac Promise Zone, said Davidson was selected for her work with RCU’s mentoring program, making it “inclusive of our students to retain them on campus and ensure they had an outlet for when they needed assistance to stay on track.” He said Davidson had a “genuine vested interest in our scholar’s success.”

Davidson said her work to empower others began when she was in college and remains a core value that runs through every job she’s had since then. “I love to uplift and empower our youth by working toward equity in education,” she said.

Davidson was honored at a Nov. 16 dinner hosted by Que Morgan ‘17, assistant marketing development manager for General Motors and president of the RCU Alumni Association.

The Pontiac Promise Zone honored five other individuals as community champions along with Davidson. The organization strives to “make dreams come true for the youth of the Pontiac School District who may not have resources for a Michigan college education,” according to its website. 

Davidson said Rochester Christian University is “excited to be a close partner with Pontiac Promise Zone fueled by our shared commitment to see all students succeed.”
