REALM, an award presented by the National Council of Teachers of English, has given an excellent rating to RCU’s 2023 edition of “Blackberry Winter.” Congratulations to Editor Nathan Freundl, faculty adviser Melissa St. Pierre and all the creative writing team.

REALM, which stands for Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines, publicly recognizes literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing.

“I am incredibly proud of this publication. It has a deep and rich history here at RCU and I’m honored to be a part of it and to steer it moving forward. This year is the 20-year anniversary of BW and Blackberry Winter has always showcased what’s best about us: our creative community. Winning the REALM Award gives us a chance to shine in a new light,” St. Pierre said.
