Our Mission
The Rochester Christian University Theatre and Music department is a student-focused artistic community that seeks to engage, inspire, and impact our world by the stories we tell through performance. Our hands-on education develops artists who uncover truth and beauty, examine the human condition, celebrate our diverse society, and develop marketable skills such as communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.

Vision
The department of Theatre and Music at RCU develops the whole person, promotes empathy, instills appreciation of beauty and diversity, encourages examination of self and the world, and stresses the importance of human interaction through artistic expression. The department uses stories to engage, inspire, and impact our rapidly changing world. Faculty and staff serve as mentors to students as they seek to discover their purpose.

- B.A. in Theatre with tracks in Performance, Production, Musical Theatre and Film (through articulation agreement with MTI).

Personal Attention
Students will discover their calling in the arts by working closely with professors who will invest in developing their talents, skills, knowledge, and experiences.
Production Opportunity
Students will participate in department productions or ensembles every semester, gaining hands-on experience in their craft.
Professional Mentorship
Students will work alongside professional artists in production, ensembles, and the classroom.
London trip
The RCU Theatre & Music Department leads an annual summer trip to London to see professional theater productions, visit historic landmarks, and explore the city.
Uncovered Theatre
Rochester Christian University is one of the few institutions of higher learning in the country to own and operate a professional theatre company in which students participate in all aspects of theatre while working toward their bachelor’s degree.
Shakespeare Upon Avon
Every summer the Rochester Christian University Theatre Company partners with UnCovered Theatre Company to produce the award-winning Shakespeare festival: Shakespeare Upon Avon.
Social Engagement
Theatre for Social Engagement educates our audiences about how the stories we share on stage intersect with the world around us.
